Lamaze Instructor Training

Become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE). The LCCE credential assures women & their families that you have reached a standard level of knowledge and skills. Lamaze Certification is achieved by passing the Lamaze International Certification Exam, which is offered twice a year. Attending this seminar is one of the steps in the eligibility process.

The structure of the seminars will be three days (often consecutive)  from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm in the Central Time Zone.  Generally, the seminars will be held either virtually or in Spring, Texas, however, other host sites may be arranged (please contact us if an alternate host site or dates are desired).

Teach You! Childbirth will comply with all policies of Lamaze.  The program director will hold decision-making authority for policies of Teach You! Childbirth.

 

The Childbirth Educator Seminar fee is $400.  Meals and the Lamaze Learning Guide (required for certification) is not included.

Program Policies

Student Eligibility Criteria

All participants are expected to be familiar with the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; medical terms, common procedures and tests during normal pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; and normal newborn appearance and procedures, along with the basics of breastfeeding.

Program Completion Requirements

To complete the program and receive continuing education credit, all sessions, all three days must be attended.  No partial credit will be given.

Attendance at a seminar does not guarantee passing the certification exam or endorsement by Lamaze International.

Participants will prepare for the seminar by completed the following activities prior to the seminar:

  1. Order and begin reading the Lamaze Learning Guide, not required prior to seminar.
  2. Review the 6 Healthy Birth Practices from Lamaze.
  3. Review the Lamaze website for other required reading for the certification exam.
  4. It is highly recommended that participants observe a full Lamaze childbirth education series.
  5. It is highly recommended that an LCCE observe the first series that participants teach.
Grievance Policy

Complaints shall be submitted, in writing, to the Program Director within twenty (20) days of the occurrence or knowledge of the event upon which the grievance is based. The Program Director will deliver a suggested resolution, in writing, within five (5) days after the presentation of the grievance.

Appeal Policy

If the aggrieved person is not satisfied with the resolution of the grievance or if no decision has been rendered within five (5) days after presentation of the grievance, the student may file an appeal with the Accreditation Council within ten (10) days of the initial disposition. The Accreditation Council will speak with the aggrieved person and Program Director to discuss the complaint. The decision of the Accreditation Council shall be made in writing within ten (10) days from the receipt of the appeal.

The Program Director agrees to be bound by the decision of the Accreditation Council.

Refund, Withdrawal, and Transfer Policy

Seminars are subject to cancellation.  When seminars are canceled due to registration issues, the seminar fee will be refunded in full.

Participants registered for the seminar may withdraw with a full refund up to 1 month before the seminar.  Participants may withdraw at 1 month or less; however, a cancellation fee of $50.00 will be charged.

Timeline for Program Completion

Participants who attend at least one full day, but are not able to attend the remaining days due to unforeseen reasons, may transfer into another seminar offered within one year of the original seminar.
