The mission of Teach You! Childbirth Educator Seminars is to provide evidence-based information using Lamaze principles to participants who want to become childbirth educators and to perinatal nurses who want to enrich their nursing practice.
The structure of the seminars will be three consecutive days from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with registration on the first day starting at 8:00 am. Generally, the seminars will be held in Dothan, Alabama; however, host sites may be arranged by a signed agreement*. At host sites, the format will be the same as in Dothan, Alabama. If requested, the seminars may be held on three consecutive weeks with one day each week.

Teach You! Childbirth Educator Seminars will comply with all policies of Lamaze. The program director will hold decision-making authority for policies of Teach You! Childbirth Educator Seminars.
Seminar is held daily from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm
(Registration begins the first day at 8:00 am)
Student Eligibility Criteria:
All participants are expected to be familiar with the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; medical terms, common procedures and tests during normal pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; and normal newborn appearance and procedures, along with the basics of breastfeeding.
Requirements for Successful Completion of Program:
To complete the program and receive continuing education credit, all sessions, all three days must be attended. No partial credit will be given.
Attendance at seminar does not guarantee passing the certification exam or endorsement by Lamaze International.
Participants will prepare for the seminar by completed the following activities prior to the seminar:
1. Order and begin reading the Lamaze Learning Guide.
2. View the video “Birth by the Numbers” available on the Lamaze website.
3. Review the 6 Healthy Birth Practices from Lamaze.
4. Review the Lamaze website for other required reading for the certification exam.
5. It is highly recommended that participants observe a full Lamaze childbirth education series.
6. It is highly recommended that an LCCE observe the first series that participants teach.
Complaints shall be submitted, in writing, to the Program Director within twenty (20) days of the occurrence or knowledge of the event upon which the grievance is based. The Program Director will deliver a suggested resolution, in writing, within five (5) days after the presentation of the grievance.
If the aggrieved person is not satisfied with the resolution of the grievance or if no decision has been rendered within five (5) days after presentation of the grievance, the student may file an appeal with the Accreditation Council within ten (10) days of the initial disposition. The Accreditation Council will speak with the aggrieved person and Program Director to discuss the complaint. The decision of the Accreditation Council shall be made in writing within ten (10) days from the receipt of the appeal.
The Program Director agrees to be bound by the decision of the Accreditation Council.
Refund Policy and Withdrawal/Transfer Policy:
Seminars are subject to cancellation. Minimum seminar attendance is 6 participants, registered at least 1 month prior to seminar. When seminars are cancelled due to low registration, the seminar fee will be refunded in full.
Participants registered for the seminar may withdraw with a full refund up to 1 month before the seminar. Participants may withdraw at 1 month or less; however, a cancellation fee of $50.00 will be charged.
Timeline for Completion of Program:
Participants who attend at least one full day, but are not able to attend the remaining days due to unforeseen reasons, may transfer into another seminar offered within one year of the original seminar.
Seminar Fee: $350.00 (includes seminar materials, lunch on your own).
Does NOT include the Lamaze Learning Guide (required), which is purchased from www.lamazeinternational.org.

The seminar will be held on the 2nd floor, Classroom A of the Women’s Center.
